Dante Alighieri

Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet, writer, and philosopher from Florence, born in 1265. He is best known for his epic poem, "The Divine Comedy," which is widely considered one of the greatest works of world literature. Written in the Tuscan dialect, the poem helped standardize the Italian language. Dante's work and ideas often reflect his understandings of theology and politics, influenced by the turbulent times in which he lived.
